Groundhog day

I heard a familiar tale today, from a young man at a church different from the one I attend. 

A story of Christian boy meets Christian girl at church.

Boy likes girl. 

Boy hangs around awkwardly with girl. 

Boy makes small talk with girl.

Boy tells his small group he likes girl.

Boy continues to like girl.

Boy and girl go for a coffee together.

Boy continues to like girl.

Boy is worried he might be seen as some kind of predator if he asks out a girl at church. Or that it’s somehow inappropriate. Or that he thinks she’s not interested. Or…

Girl decides he probably doesn’t like her and moves on.

Boy is filled with regret. 

Sadly, he thinks he’s weird. Even more sadly, he’s not. Far from it. Why?
